You are a Christian working in business, public service, charity or church leadership. You take your faith and your Christian influence in your workplace seriously – as a disciple of Jesus, called to serve and honour God in your workplace.
Christian Pastoral Supervision offers you something more than Christian workplace conferences, books and website resources (good as they are!). You get a trained pastoral supervisor committed to supporting you personally - to help you process your unique work-related issues and opportunities through the lens of your Christian faith. Christian Pastoral Supervision provides a confidential, spiritual and safe space dedicated to you - and the issues that matter most to you in your work and in your workplace.
Hi, my name is Stuart McPhail.
I am Qualified: I have a Professional Certificate in Pastoral Supervision (Institute of Pastoral Counselling & Supervision); an MA in Contextual Theology; and an MSc in Project Management.
I am an ordained minister of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and have led churches for almost 20 years in the UK.
My Pastoral Supervision work draws from experience in pastoral ministry, ecumenical training in pastoral supervision, as well as a previous career in construction project management, team leadership, and mentoring.
Throughout my career I have worked hard to integrate faith and the world of work, and to support those who are seeking to do likewise.
All of us who are involved in leadership are aware that our work is constantly demanding. It can feel at times like we’re stuck in a continuous cycle of activity without proper opportunities to take stock of our work; to reflect on our practices through the lens of our faith; to consider the impact on ourselves and those around us; and to plan our future steps.
I am passionate about pastorally supporting you in processing the unique challenges of your workplace - because I believe that you, and your work, matter to God and his Kingdom.
My support aims to be spiritually & theologically rich; psychologically informed; grounded in your work experience; and sensitive to future work developments for you.
My Article Click here explains how Pastoral Supervision differs from Mentoring, Spiritual Direction, and Counselling.
If you would like to explore working together with me - to support you in your work or ministry, please get in touch using the Contact Me section below.
Firstly, we’ll arrange a free introductory conversation. Then, if we subsequently agree to further consultations, my fee is £50 per consultation.
Each consultation is scheduled to last 60-75mins. The sessions are conducted online from anywhere in the world (or in-person by arrangement) and are usually spaced at 4-6 week intervals. We will review the arrangement together after each block of 6 sessions.
My fees may be covered or subsidised by your business, organisation or ministry, as a professional development or training expense.

He can challenge and support you to help you come to the heart of an issue you are facing or have experienced. Most importantly, Stuart cares about people. Whether you are working in Christian ministry, or have a leadership role in the secular marketplace, I believe Stuart is equipped to offer good pastoral supervision that can relate to your role and is relevant to your own context.”
“Stuart's friendliness made the space feel very welcoming.
He was attentive and listened attentively.... He invited me to view my present reality differently and helped me to find new possibilities. In proffering the interventions, he also created a sense of space for thinking differently about what was challenging me.”
